(Spencer)– A Spencer man arrested earlier this week on meth charges is facing additional felony charges for escaping from custody.
35-year-old Joel Storey was arrested Wednesday evening after Spencer police found a clandestine meth lab in his vehicle after a traffic stop at the North “Y”. On his way to the county jail from a court hearing Thursday, Storey escaped from the jailers custody.
Spencer police officers and Clay county deputies quickly took Storey back into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
Noone was injured in the incident.
Storey is now facing a felony charge of escape from custody and a charge of interference with official acts. He is also facing a felony charge of possession of meth precursors and operating while intoxicated after he was pulled over Wednesday evening.
Storey is being held at the Clay county jail.
