Clay Co. Courthouse Being Studied For Possible Rennovation

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A rennovation of the Clay county courthouse may be in the works.

The board of supervisors Tuesday met with Rick Dean of Architects Collaborative who informed them of a tour he took of the facility last week.

Dean told the supervisors he’s asked a Des Moines architectural firm, Weatherall, Ericsson and Luesink, to help in a study of the current condition of the Clay county courthouse. He says the findings will be compiled into a report that will be presented to the supervisors.

The study is expected to cost between 7,500 and 10-thousand dollars.

Dean says it will take about two months to complete.

The current Clay county courthouse was built in the early 1900’s.
