November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Charges have been filed against an Estherville man in connection with a pursuit early this (Mon.) morning that started in Estherville and wound up near the Dickinson county line.

Estherville police say it started shortly after midnight when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver took off, leading officers on a pursuit that went north out of Estherville, then west to a gravel pit area just east of the Dickinson county line. That’s where the driver pulled over and got out on foot. Authorities were able to locate the suspect a short time later. He’s identified as 27-year-old Randy Alan Nissen, Junior of Estherville.

Nissen was charged with one count each of felony eluding; operating while intoxicated…first offense; excessive speed; interference with official acts and reckless driving. He was booked into the Emmet county jail.

Estherville police were assisted by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Okoboji Police Department.
