(Undated)– Voters in Clay and Dickinson counties are headed to the polls today (Tues.) deciding the fates of separate issues.
Clay county voters are deciding an issue that would provide additional revenues for schools in the county. The one cent School Infrastructure Local Option (SILO) tax would be in effect 10 years if approved.
Dickinson county voters are deciding whether or not to build a new courthouse. They’re voting on a 14.9 million dollar bond issue for a new courthouse on the existing site. All county offices would be put under one roof, along with a new sheriff’s office and jail. Under Iowa law, the measure needs approval from atleast 60 percent of those who vote in today’s election in order to pass.
Polls in both counties are open until 8:00 p.m.
KUOO will have the results live this evening as they’re made available by the Clay and Dickinson County Auditor’s offices.
