(Fenton)– A one-vehicle accident Tuesday in Palo Alto county has claimed the life of a Fenton woman.
The Sheriff’s Office says 67-year-old Doris Householder of Fenton was westbound on County Road B-19 three miles west of Fenton when she lost control of the van she was driving. The vehicle left the road, struck a driveway, rolled over and hit a tree.
Householder and a passenger, 90-year-old Mabel Mortenson also of Fenton, were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. They were lifeflighted to a Mason City hospital, where Mortenson was pronounced dead upon arrival. Householder’s condition wasn’t immediately available.
Extrication equipment had to be used to remove the two from the wreckage.
The mishap took place shortly before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fenton and Palo Alto County ambulances along with the West Bend Fire Department and its Jaws of Life unit.
