(Spencer)– The Clay County Fair Board has hired an Ames company to manage the almost completed Regional Events Center on the fairgrounds in Spencer.
Compass Facility Management has been providing pre-opening services during the construction phase of the event center since January, 2002.
Compass Senior Consultant Carl St. Clair has been working on-site laying the groundwork for the opening of the facility.
This week the Clay County Fair Board voted to hire Compass to manage the facility after it opens for public business in November.
Under the agreement Compass will be responsible for the booking, marketing and day-to-day operations of the Events Center.
The company is beginning its search for three staff members that will provide the management team for the building.
In the next couple of weeks Compass will be hiring a general manager, a business manager and an event coordinator.
When open the Event Center will be able to accomodate conferences, meetings, concerts, trade shows, banquets and a broad range of community activities.
Officials are shooting for a mid-November grand opening.
