Empty Shelves Causing Concern At Spencer Food Pantry

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– For the first time in several years, the Spencer Upper Des Moines Opportunity center is asking for the public’s help.

With the holidays right around the corner, officials with the U-D-M-O food shelf in Spencer are concerned…their cupboards are nearly bare. Program Assistant Georgia Crew sites several factors, including a food drive that wound up being canceled; demand for the pantry has been up; and donations of food during Spirit Day at the Clay County Fair were down.

As a result, Crew says they’re putting out a plea for donations. They can be dropped off at the Spencer U-D-M-O office at 407 East 3rd Street.
