(Spirit Lake)– A 62 million dollar shortfall in Iowa’s budget has schools bracing for even more cuts.
Governor Vilsack ordered the cuts late last week after learning the state’s sales tax revenues remain much lower than projected.
45 million dollars is being cut from Iowa’s 370 public school districts.
Superintendent Dr. Tim Grieves says the Spirit Lake district will have to cut its budget another two and-a-half percent…or between 106-thousand and 140-thousand dollars. Grieves says they’ll probably dip into the district’s cash reserves to make up the difference.
