(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Monday night in Spirit Lake has resulted in charges being filed against two lakes area teens.
Spirit Lake police say they pulled over a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Darrell Sorey of Okoboji around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of 23rd Street and Keokuk Avenue. Authorities say they discovered Sorey’s driver’s license had been revoked, resulting in his arrest.
Police say a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and a substance believed to be marijuana. That resulted in the arrest of a passenger, 19-year-old Isaac Derner of Milford. Derner was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana…a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor; and prohibited acts…an aggravated misdemeanor.
Sorey and Derner were transported to the Dickinson county jail.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Okoboji Police Department.
