Dick. Co. Begins Work On Long Range Plan Update

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The tedious process of updating a long range land use plan for Dickinson county is about to get underway.

The board of supervisors met Wednesday with Bill Ludwig, an urban planner with William J. Ludwig and Associates of Des Moines. Ludwig says more than just county officials need to be involved in the process, expected to take about a year. Due to the county’s geography, he’s strongly recommending the cities and various environmental groups also be seated at the table. Ludwig says the comprehensive land use plan will revolve around water quality.

He plans to come back to the county in a couple of weeks to start meeting with various city officials, the Cleanwater Alliance and representatives of other groups.
