(Emmetsburg)– Two Emmetsburg teens are in trouble after stealing two cars last weekend.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says two male juveniles were arrested this week for burglary.
The boys, ages 16 and 17, are accused of stealing a 1993 Pontiac from a home in Emmetsburg late Friday night. While allegedly driving the vehicle to Spencer, a tire blew out near a rural Dickens home. The two teens then went to the garage of the residence and allegedly stole a 1991 Chrysler New Yorker. Authorities say the owner of the vehicle was struck as the teens were allegedly backing the car out of a garage. They left the vehicle and fled the scene.
The two boys were arrested Sunday morning at an apartment in Spencer. They’ve been charged with third degree burglary and released to the custody of their parents. Authorities say more charges are pending.
The owner of the vehicle sustained minor cuts and bruises in the incident.
