(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake businessman as the result of searches conducted Friday at his home and business.
53-year-old Harry William Hargett of Okoboji has been charged with forgery, theft by deception in the second degree and fraudulent practice by alteration of records. All are class “D” felonies.
Hargett was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Spirit Lake police say the search warrants were executed at Hargett’s business–the Spine Injury and Pain Center in the Great Lakes Mall, and his residence at 4110 Lakeshore Drive in Okoboji. Police say the search warrants were the result of a complaint of fraud they had received. Authorities say several items of evidence were turned up as a result.
The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the U-S Postal Inspector’s Office, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Okoboji and Arnolds Park Police Departments.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
