(Arnolds Park)– Officials say the fire danger across the area is increasing again with the recent dry weather and strong wind.
Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Chief Steve Dulin says his department was called to a grass fire around 3:30 p.m. Friday southeast of Pelican Ridge. Dulin says about 10 to 15 acres of state land burned. No buildings were threatened, and no injuries were reported.
Dulin says it appears the fire was caused by either a hot exhaust on a vehicle or a cigarette butt tossed from a vehicle.
Firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
