(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of the Okoboji and Spirit Lake area has a way to go if it’s going to reach it’s goal this year.
As of Thursday, 39-thousand dollars had been raised…32,300-dollars short of the 71,300-dollar goal.
Organizers are hoping donations pick up as we enter the holiday season. Donations can be dropped off at First Bank and Trust in Spirit Lake or mailed to the Good Neighbor Fund at P.O. Box 454, Spirit Lake, 51360.
A dozen local agencies have applied for funding this year through the Good Neighbor Fund…including a new one…Echo Plus.
Other agencies that are benefitted include the Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross, Discovery House, Camp Foster YMCA, Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault, the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa, Dickinson County Kinship, Lakota Council Girl Scouts, Prairie Gold Council Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Timeout Nursery, Upper Des Moines Opportunity and the Voluntary Action Center.
