(Emmetsburg)– Authorities say last weekend’s winter storm was a contributing factor in a one-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Curlew man.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Larry Olsen of Curlew lost control of a 1999 Ford truck around 5:30 p.m. Saturday about a half mile northeast of 440th Avenue and 390th Street on Burns Road.
Authorities say Olsen lost control on an icy bridge, causing the vehicle to go into the north ditch. The vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its wheels, ejecting Olsen.
Olsen was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger, 23-year-old Lonnie Hendricksen of Ringsted, was also take to the Palo Alto County Hospital where he was treated for injuries he sustained.
