(Spirit Lake)– Difficulties in getting sanitary sewer service extended to a development on Little Spirit Lake was discussed at Tuesday’s Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting.
Supervisor Wayne Northey says he’s been contacted by some property owners in the Leisure Beach area, where the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary Sewer District has been working for years to extend service. But Northey says the district has been unable to negotiate a favorable purchase price for some land where a lift station would need to be located. Northey says he’ll meet with the Sanitary District’s board of trustees to see if he can assist in the talks.
Northey says it’s important a sanitary sewer system be extended to that area, which is currently served by septic tanks, as it’s at the head-end of the Iowa Great Lakes.
