Woman Overcome By Carbon Monoxide

November 22, 2014

(Marathon)– A Marathon woman has been hospitalized after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning Wednesday.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday to a medical emergency at 3906 410th Avenue.

Authorities say 33-year-old Kerri Wenck of Marathon was cleaning dog kennels when she collapsed. She was using a gas-powered washer and was apparently overcome by carbon monoxide.

Wenck was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital and later air-lifted to a Des Moines hospital.

Many of the dogs in the kennel died.

Wenck was found unconscious by the property owner.
