Corridor Puts Pitch In For Wells Dairy Corporate Offices

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity is among those wooing Wells Dairy as the company continues to look at relocating its corporate offices currently located in LeMars.

Chad Shryock, the Corridor’s Executive Director, tells KUOO news he’s been in contact with Well’s officials, and that a presentation has been made to the company in an effort to get them to relocate their main offices here.

Shryock didn’t elaborate on the proposal they’ve presented to the company.

He says the operation would bring 400 jobs with it. Shryock adds the Corridor would be a natural fit for Wells Dairy, given the resources that are available here in land availability, facilities, the area’s workforce, quality of life and other factors.

Wells Dairy officials met Thursday with Governor Tom Vilsack and state economic development officials who are working hard to keep the company in Iowa.

In addition to numerous cities in northwest Iowa, Wells Dairy has also been entertaining offers from South Dakota and Nebraska.

They haven’t mentioned a firm timeframe for making a decision, but Shryock expects to hear something soon.
