(Storm Lake)– A Storm Lake woman was killed and two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident on county road C-63 near the Cherokee-Buena Vista county line Thursday.
The State Patrol says 21-year-old Ana Iris Henriquez of Storm Lake lost control of her van on the ice-covered roadway. The vehicle entered the south ditch, where it flipped on its top. Henriquez was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened at 9:45 a.m. about a quarter mile west of the county line in Cherokee county.
A three-year-old passenger…Jousy Henriquez of Storm Lake…was seriously injured in the crash. The youngster was taken by ambulance to the Storm Lake airport…then lifeflighted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City in critical condition. Another passenger, 37-year-old Salvador Rivera of Storm Lake, received minor injuries and sought medical treatment on his own.
The State Patrol says the van was totaled.
The Patrol was assisted by the Buena Vista and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Offices.
