(Estherville)– An early morning chase has resulted in charges against an Armstrong man.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office has charged 25-year-old Jeremy Polzin with eluding a police officer, driving while barred, careless driving and unsafe passing.
Sheriff Larry LaMack says it started around 1:00 a.m. this (Fri.) morning when an Armstrong officer was pursuing the vehicle west on Highway nine. An Emmet County Sheriff’s Deputy joined in the chase, and managed to box in the vehicle. LaMack says the suspect vehicle struck the deputy’s squad car as the driver tried to pass it. The squad car went into the north ditch. The suspect vehicle went into the south ditch, rolled, and hit a utility pole.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Polzine was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville for treatment of minor injuries. The deputy sought treatment for a shoulder injury.
Polzine was released from the hospital and booked in the Emmet county jail. Bond was set at 16,250-dollars.
