(West Okoboji)– Another lakes area municipality has voted to contribute money to a new lakes area fire boat.
The West Okoboji City Council voted unanimously Monday evening to contribute 13-thousand dollars out of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, provided they can come up with the money from other areas of the budget.
The boat has a price tag of 147-thousand dollars. In addition to West Okoboji, the cities of Wahpeton, Arnolds Park and Okoboji have voted to chip in 13-thousand dollars each, with the county contributing 28-thousand. The Milford City Council so far has denied the request; and Spirit Lake will consider it later this month. The Milford and Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Departments are also contributing toward the boat. The remainer will come from fundraisers and bridge financing.
