(Spencer)– A fire at the Spencer Hospital Tuesday caused some tense moments.
Fire Chief Doug Duncan says crews were called out just after 3:00 p.m. to a fire at the hospital’s expansion site. Duncan says an L-P tank caught on fire. The tank was being used to power a heater being used in an area enclosed in plastic to keep mortar warm. Duncan says firefighters cooled the tank and pulled other tanks away from it. He says they eventually were able to extinguish the flames and turn off the valve. The fire was contained to the construction area. Firefighters were on the scene about an hour and-a-half.
Spencer firefighters were also called Tuesday to a dryer fire at Hanson’s Laundry. Duncan says some clothes in a dryer caught on fire, filling the building with smoke. Duncan says the blaze was contained to the dryer, and other than the smoke, no damage was reported to the building. Firefighters spent about an hour at that location.
