(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported in a house fire this (Fri.) morning in Spirit Lake.
Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says firefighters were called to the Ray and Darlene Gustafson residence at 2508 15th Street around 10:45 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, Jorgenson says firefighters found the house was filled with dense smoke. He says firefighters had to use self-contained breathing aparatus before entering.
Once inside he says they were able to locate the fire in a kitchen near the stove. He says they were able to contain it and quickly extinguished it.
Although the fire itself was contained to the one area, Jorgenson says there was extensive smoke damage throughout the home.
Two people that were in the house at the time managed to get out unharmed. A cat was also in the house, but it wasn’t immediately accounted for.
Spirit Lake firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
