(Paullina)– A Sioux City man was injured when a car he was driving collided with a snowplow Sunday in O’Brien county.
The Sheriff’s Office says 72-year-old Emil Rasmussen of Sioux City was travelling west on Highway 10 about five miles west of Paullina when he struck the rear of a westbound snow plow operated by 46-year-old Steven Cambier of Alton.
Rasmussen, who had a medical exemption for seatbelt usage, was injured and was taken by the Paullina ambulance to the Orange City Hospital.
No injuries were reported to Cambier.
Authorities say the plow was partially on the shoulder of the road when the collision took place. The car Rasmussen was driving wound up in the north ditch.
Nine thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1989 Ford Crown Vistoria Rasmussen was driving; the snow plow operated by Cambier sustained an estimated four thousand dollars in damage.
The mishap took place shortly before 5:00 p.m.
