(Spirit Lake)– This year’s Miss Great Lakes of Iowa and Teen Miss Great Lakes of Iowa pageants will be held at the Village West Convention Center on West Lake Okoboji. The pageants will be held Saturday, March 20th. That word from one of the pageant’s organizers, Dan Voigt of Emmetsburg.
Voigt tells KUOO news the Teen Miss Great Lakes of Iowa Pageant is open to young women between 13 and 17 with the Miss Great Lakes of Iowa Pageant open to young ladies between 18 and 23.
Voigt says the competitions will be held along the same guidelines as the Miss America Program.
The programs are open to any young women living or attending school in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties.
Scholarships are awarded to the top three place finishers in the Great Lakes of Iowa competition; savings bonds go to the title holder and first runner-up in the Teen Miss Great Lakes of Iowa competition.
