Fire Damages Ruthven Maintenance Shed & Vehicles

November 22, 2014

(Ruthven)– A fire Thursday evening damaged the city maintenance building in Ruthven, along with several vehicles and equipment inside it.

Ruthven firefighters were called to the scene around 5:15 p.m. and found the fire in the roof on the south side of the building.

The building, a pickup, a pay loader and several tools and miscellaneous equipment are considered a total loss.

The city’s ambulance and two dump trucks that were also in the building sustained heat and smoke damage.

It took firefighters about two hours to extinguish the blaze.

An investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Ruthven Fire Department determined the fire was accidental. They believe it started in some electrical wiring in the ceiling of the building.

The Dickens Fire Department assisted in battling the blaze.
