(Spirit Lake)– An administrator with a Missouri school district has been hired as the next Principal at Spirit Lake High School.
Fred Skretta is currently an Assistant Principal for the senior class of 600 students at Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri…a suburb of Kansas City. The school has an enrollment of 1,700 students in grades 10-12.
Skretta has been an educator in the Liberty schools the past seven years. He has three years of administrative experience…one year as Principal of an alternative high school and two years as assistant principal. He was also the Nebraska recipient of the prestigious Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award in 1997.
Skretta also taught Spanish and Social Studies in the middle and high school levels.
He holds Bachelors of Arts Degrees in history and spanish from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Kansas; and is currently completing his Doctorial Degree at the University of Kansas.
Skretta also has experience with interdisciplinary faculty teams, school improvement planning and alternative program scheduling.
He begins his new duties as Spirit Lake High School Principal this coming July 1st.
Skretta succeeds Sheryl Hall who is stepping down after 11 years at the helm.
Skretta says he, his wife and their son Will look forward to moving to Spirit Lake. He says they were very impressed with what they saw when they visited here recently.
