(Sioux City)– The longtime Regional Director of U-S Senator Chuck Grassley’s office in Sioux City will spend her final day on the job Friday.
Marliss DeJong will retire after more than 20 years of service with Grassley.
DeJong first started working for Grassley’s Sioux City office in 1983 as a caseworker. As Regional Director, she represented Grassley at events in northwest Iowa he was unable to attend in person. She also assisted residents with problems in dealing with the federal government.
An open house for DeJong will be held Friday (2/27) from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Grassley’s office in the Federal Building in downtown Sioux City.
Grassley has announced that Joani Vredenburgh will succeed DeJong as his Regional Director representing Buena Vista, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Humboldt, Ida, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Sac, Sioux, Webster and Woodbury counties.
