(Laurens)– The Police Chief of Laurens has placed on administrative leave after being charged with domestic abuse.
Rodney Watkins was arrested Sunday for the alleged incident.
Phil Queen was appointed by the Mayor as acting Chief while Watkins is on leave. Two other officers will help cover shifts the next two weeks.
Iowa law prohibits a law enforcement officer convicted of domestic assault from carrying a gun.
