SL Man Faces Numerous Charges In Residential Break-in

(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake man in connection with an alleged incident at a Spirit Lake residence Tuesday evening.

Spirit Lake police say they received a call shortly after 9:00 p.m. regarding an intruder that was breaking into a house. Upon arriving, officers apprehended 36-year-old James George of Spirit Lake who was inside the residence. Police say the residence had been forcibly entered, and that George was allegedly trying to gain entry into a bedroom where an adult female and three young children were hiding.

George was treated on the scene by paramedics for injuries he received as he was allegedly breaking into the residence. He was then transported to the Dickinson county jail. George was charged with burglary in the first degree, a class “B” felony; three counts of assault while participating in a felony…each a class “D” felony; domestic abuse assault, enhanced, an aggravated misdemeanor; and operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. Bond has been set at 34-thousand dollars.

No injuries were reported to the adult female or children.

Police say they executed a search warrant today (Wed.) on George’s residence and vehicle, and seized additional items pertaining to the investigation.

Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
