(Des Moines)– Dozens of Iowa towns…including some in our area…will share in 17 million dollars in Community Development Block Grants.
53 communities were awarded funding through the U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development. The state will administer the funds.
Locally, the Cherokee county town of Larrabee will get 149-thousand dollars to construct a new water tower; Pocahontas will get 500-thousand to build a storm water equalization basin; and Royal was awarded 300-thousand dollars to improve its sewer system.
Plymouth county was also awarded a grant. It will get 300-thousand dollars to build onto a county-owned care facility.
