Charges Filed In O’Brien Co. Shooting

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– An investigation into a shooting in O’Brien county has resulted in charges being filed against three people.

Sheriff Mike Anderson says no one was hurt in the incident that was reported shortly after 5:00 p.m. Monday at 4219 Nettle Avenue in O’Brien county.

Anderson says a 14-year-old male juvenile from Sioux City was charged with assault, an aggravated misdemeanor, and was released to the custody of his father.

Deputies also charged 18-year-old Than “Bobby” Keolakhoevong of rural Granville with assault. He was booked into the O’Brien county jail on bond of 6,500-dollars.

Anderson says the assault was apparently in connection with an earlier disagreement at the residence between family members. He says Keolakhoevang arrived at the scene and allegedly fired a 22-caliber rifle into the vicinity of other people at the farm place.

Anderson says the investigation also led to the arrest of 35-year-old James Carel who lives at the residence. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.

Anderson says their investigation continues.
