(Orleans)– One person was taken to the hospital as the result of a one-vehicle rollover early this (Thurs.) morning near Orleans.
Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says it took place shortly after 2:00 a.m. on 140th street a couple miles east of Orleans.
Baloun says three people were in the vehicle. It’s not certain who was driving. He says one of the occupants…believed to be the driver…fled the scene on foot. Authorities are still looking for that subject. Another occupant, identified as 22-year-old Kyle Wilson of Renner, South Dakota, was injured and was taken by abulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. Another person in the vehicle refused treatment.
Baloun says the driver lost control of a 2001 Toyota as the vehicle was eastbound on 140th Street. It left the road and went into the south ditch where it rolled a couple of times coming to rest on its top.
Baloun says their investigation continues and more details will be released later.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake and Okoboji Police Departments, Spirit Lake ambulance and Spirit Lake First Responders.
