(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday unanimously adopted an amendment pertaining to the city’s Tax Increment Finance District. It expands the district to include right-of-way along Highway 71 between 230th Street south of Style Craft to Highway 86; and right-of-way along a portion of 28th Street.
The council also approved recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission to accept preliminary plats for two subdivisions proposed for the city’s northeast side. The developers had requested a requirement for sidewalks be waived. The council approved the preliminary plats, but deferred any action on the sidewalks.
One of the developers also requested streets in his area be 30 feet wide instead of the required 32. The council refused to waive the 32 foot requirement.
It was also reported plans are being drawn to address drainage concerns the city of West Okoboji has with one of the proposed developments.
The council also unanimously approved requests to establish Tax Increment Finance Districts in the areas of the proposed developments to assist developers in paying for the construction of infrastructure.
