November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Some big changes are in store this year for a program in which school students clean up the shorelines, parks and other attractions in the lakes area.

This year, students in all four Dickinson county middle schools will be participating in the “Save Our Shores” project.

The Spirit Lake Middle School will be out and about Wednesday, May 12th from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m.; Okoboji Middle School students will do their part Friday, May 14th from 1:00 until 2:50 p.m.; Harris-Lake Park Middle School students will clean up around Silver Lake and Lake Park Wednesday, May 19th from 2:20 until 3:15 p.m.; and students at the Graettinger-Terril Middle School will clean up various areas around Terril on Friday, May 25th from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m.

The effort is coordinated with assistance from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, county and city maintenance departments, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the schools’ transportation staff.

Parents or adults wishing to help out should contact their respective school’s office.
