Local Unemployment Rate Drops In February

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– There’s some good news for the Corridor of Opportunity in the latest jobless statistics released by Iowa Workforce Development.

The combined unemployment rate for Clay and Dickinson counties in February declined to 4.2 percent after peaking at over five percent in January.

Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Corridor of Opportunity, says the drop is consistent with the seasonal nature of the area, and he expects it to continue to drop as we head into the busy spring and summer months.

February jobless rates in neighboring counties included Emmet at 6.4 percent; Osceola and O’Brien counties at 3.7 percent and Palo Alto county was at 3.5 percent.
