(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake’s new Postmaster was officially sworn in Tuesday morning.
Kate Aulner has been on the job already since December 1st. She says she really likes her new duties in Spirit Lake and is very impressed with the local postal workers.
Aulner says she has several changes and improvements in mind, including a new system of “hold mail” for seasonal residents to simplify the information residents need to give before they leave.
Aulner, a former school teacher, has been with the Postal Service 25 years. She served 15 of those years as Postmaster in Salem, South Dakota.
Aulner tells KUOO news the Postal Service holds a special place in her heart in that her mother is a retired Postmaster. She also has two brothers that work for the Postal Service.
