(Spirit Lake)– Another hurdle has been cleared in the process to establish a Tax Increment Finance District in the Shore Acres area on the north side of Big Spirit Lake.
The Dickinson county board of supervisors this week voted four-to-one to adopt a resolution of necessity…one of the required steps in the process of establishing a TIF District.
Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche cast the lone no vote, saying he doesn’t believe this project fits the traditional purpose of TIF, which he says is to promote economic development and improve blighted areas. Money generated by the district would be used to pave roads in the subdivision.
The proposal still has more hoops to jump through before it can be established and finalized.
