(Spirit Lake)– A grass fire late Tuesday afternoon at Lutheran Lakeside Camp south of Spirit Lake burned six to seven acres of land before it could be put out.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says firefighters were called to the scene around 4:00 p.m.
He says they managed to keep the blaze away from some nearby homes and Parks Marina.
Jorgenson says the fire was the result of a brush fire that got out of hand.
Local officials have stopped short so far of implementing an all-out ban on burning. They’re urging everyone NOT to do any burning until we get some substantial precipitation.
