Arson Suspected Again In Spring Run Fires

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Officials say another series of grass fires this spring at the Spring Run Management Complex east of Arnolds Park appears to be the work of an arsonist.

Firefighters have been called to seven different fires in that area since last fall…including several more this spring.

The latest one happend Friday. About 40 to 50 acres of grassland went up in smoke. It took the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department more than two hours to put it out. No injuries were reported, and no buildings were threatened.

Fire Chief Steve Dulin says they have reason to believe this blaze, like others in the area, is the result of arson. He says they believe an accelerant was used.

Anyone seeing any suspicious activity in that area is asked to contact the Dickinson County Communications Center at 336-2525.
