(Spirit Lake)– Here’s a reminder before you put that boat in the water for the first time this season: don’t forget to put the plug back in it.
Some boaters found that out the hard way Friday afternoon on the north side of West Lake Okoboji.
Rescue crews and law enforcement were called to the Triboji Beach Area around 4:20 p.m. after getting a report about a sinking boat and a woman that was in the water with a life jacket on. She made it back to shore safely, and the boat, which was taking on water, was also safely retrieved.
Officials say the operator forgot to put the plug in before launching the boat.
No one was hurt in the incident.
