(Sioux City)– A Sioux Rapids man has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for manufacturing more than two ounces of methamphetamine.
27-year-old Jason Karl Kennaway had earlier pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute atleast two ounces of methamphetamine.
In addition to the prison term, Kennaway must also serve a five-year term of supervised release.
A Hartley man has pleaded guilty in U-S District Court to manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine within a thousand feet of a city park. 35-year-old Douglas Wayne Nielsen also pled to six counts of possessing guns and ammunition while being a convicted felon and an unlawful user of controlled substances.
At a plea hearing, Nielsen admitted that from December 1998 and continuing through about January 21st, 2003 he distributed more than a pound of methamphetamine and manufactured meth. During that time, law enforcement executed search warrants and seized firearms and ammunition from the residence.
Nielsen also pled guilty to conspiracy to manufacture meth in Missouri between August 1st, 2003 and October 1st, 2003.
Sentencing is set for June 29th in U-S District Court in Sioux City.
A Worthington man has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for distributing more than three ounces of methamphetamine, about a pound of marijuana and a half ounce of cocaine. 23-year-old Luis Alfonso Vela-Coronado had previously pled guilty to the charges. In addition to the prison time, he must also serve a four-year term of supervised release.
