(Spencer)– A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a sex abuse investigation in Spencer.
The case stems back to early March when a local physician contacted the Department of Human Services to report the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old Spencer girl. An investigation led to the arrest of two male juveniles, ages 10 and 14, on charges of second degree sex abuse. They were charged for having sex with and performing other acts of a sexual nature with the girl from January 4th through February 4th.
Also as part of their investigation, officers arrested 20-year-old Corey Hollander of Spencer for allowing the victim and the two boys to view obscene material on the internet.
On Wednesday Spencer police arrested a fourth individual. 18-year-old Derick Thomas of Spencer is accused of inappropriately touching the young girl. He was charged with indecent contact with a child…an aggravated misdemeanor.
Thomas was booked into the Clay county jail.
The D-H-S and Child Advocacy Center in Sioux City are assisting Spencer Police in their investigation.
