(Estherville)– A travelling exhibit that tells the stories about midwest prisoners of war in Nazi Germany will be making the rounds in northwest Iowa later this week.
“Behind Barbed Wire” will be in Emmetsburg this Thursday and in Estherville that evening from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. at the VFW parking lot. It will be at the parking lot of the Spirit Lake Public Library Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Gene Haukoos of Estherville is helping bring the display to that community. He tells KUOO news it was put together by Michael Luick-Thrams, Executive Director of Traces…an organization established to help tell the stories of World War II midwest prisoners of war.
Haukoos says the travelling museum consists of narrative display panels illustrated with artifacts, photographs and documents, along with audio and DVD documentaries.
