(Spencer)– Clay county authorities have found the remnants of yet another meth lab. It’s the sixth time in less than a year authorities have been called to clean up a dumpsite.
Sheriff Randy Krukow says the latest discovery was made Tuesday afternoon. He says deputies were notified around 1:45 p.m. about a suspicious bag in a ditch on 400th Street about a quarter mile west of 330th Avenue. A deputy from the Narcotics Division responded and determined the bag contained remnants of a meth lab. The Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office was notified, along with the Spencer Fire Department. A certified lab clean-up person from the Spencer Police Department neutralized and disposed of the lab remains.
Krukow says this particular meth lab dump site was “extremely toxic”. Two gas generators, two mixing buckets, clear tubing, gloves and multiple lithium battery remnants were found.
Krukow says if you come across anything like that, you should not try to clean it up on your own. He says you should get away from it as quickly as possible and notify authorities.
