AP Council Approves Sale Of Pumper Truck; Purchases Equipment Truck

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– There’s going to be some switching around of equipment on the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department.

Meeting in special session Wednesday evening, the Arnolds Park city council voted to sell one of the department’s two pumper trucks and to purchase a new equipment truck that will replace two old bread trucks that are currently being used for that purpose.

The vote to sell the pumper was three-to-one, with councilman Mitch Watters casting the lone no vote.

Councilman Jim Jensen was absent.

The action is contingent on a 28E agreement with Okoboji being re-written to show co-ownership of the equipment.

In a separate motion, the council voted unanimously to purchase the new equipment truck for almost 194-thousand dollars…with the cost to be split with Okoboji. Arnolds Park plans to use a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the pumper truck to help pay for the equipment truck.

City Administrator Ron Walker said the city will probably have to float a small warrant or bond to pay for the remainder of the truck, since it was not included in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
