Spencer Woman Pleads Guilty To Meth Charge

(Sioux City)– A Spencer woman has pleaded guilty in Federal Court to making and selling meth in Spencer the last six years.

23-year-old Lisa Van Ampting recently pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine.

Van Ampting admitted that between 1997 and September of 2003 she and others made and sold over six ounces of meth in the Spencer area. She admitted to participating in over 15 meth cooks using the anhydrous ammonia method.

A sentencing date hasn’t been set yet. She faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

Van Ampting will remain in the custody of the U-S Marshalls Office until her sentencing.
