(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council Wednesday awarded a bid on a drainage project on the north and south sides of the city’s baseball diamond.
The bid was awarded to Valley Contracting of Estherville which submitted the lowest bid of 59,711-dollars. It came in under the engineer’s estimate of nearly 65-thousand. Six firms submitted bids on the project, which consists of storm sewer work, installation of drain tile, a rain garden and a small detention area. The project has completion date of this coming September 1st.
In other business, the council learned the cemetery wall and war memorial project is still on target for completion this coming Memorial Day. They were also updated on the Highway 71 streetscape project and the status of a contractor on that project. City Administrator Ron Walker reported the contractor has been given until May 17th to be onsite with materials, or be declared in default, making the firm liable for damages totalling about 30-thousand dollars so far.
The council also re-scheduled a public hearing for a proposal to sell some city-owned property for June 9th. The hearing was originally scheduled for Wednesday’s meeting, but had to be rescheduled because a publication deadline was inadvertantly missed.
