More Local Counties Receive Federal Disaster Designation

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– Buena Vista, Clay, Kossuth and Palo Alto counties are among 44 additional Iowa counties that have been declared federal disaster areas due to recent tornadoes, severe storms and flooding.

FEMA Coordinator Thomas Costello says the designation means residents and business owners in the affected counties are now eligible to apply for recovery assistance.

Pocahontas county is one of 14 counties that were included in the original disaster declaration.

Affected residents and business owners may apply for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice.
