(Spencer)– The public later this month will get a first-hand look at plans for a bridge replacement project in Spencer.
Rich Michaelis, District three engineer at the D-O-T’s regional office in Sioux City, says construction on the Grand Avenue Bridge Replacement Project is still a ways out there, in 2006, but they want to give the public a chance to give some feedback on the proposed design of the bridge.
Michaelis says the design incorporates several elements negotiated with the city, including a sidewalk on the east side of the bridge and a trail on the west side.
Plans call for the bridge to be built under traffic, but it will be limited to one lane each direction. Michaelis says the project will take the entire construction season to complete.
The public informational meeting on the Grand Avenue Bridge design will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17th at the Regional Events Center at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer.
